Please ask first
Not forbidden — these are enquiries, and the answer is usually yes. Public showing, use inside a company, inclusion in paid courses, textbooks, publications or broadcast, installation on your own server, intranet or kiosk. Nonprofit and small-scale use is opened free of charge.

Copying or adapting the source code or the entries, in whole or in part, to run a similar service. Rebranding it as your own.
Sources
Entries come from published scholarship and public data and are no one’s exclusive property. Per-entry sources are under "more". Main sources: Slave Voyages Database, UN World Population Prospects, Population Reference Bureau, and the works cited on each entry.
Third-party software
Gowun Batang (SIL OFL 1.1) and JetBrains Mono (SIL OFL 1.1). Sound synthesis, drawing and speech use browser built-ins only; no external libraries.
No warranty
Provided as is. Dates and figures are mostly estimates and scholarly precision is not warranted. War death tolls and population figures in particular vary widely between studies. The numbers here show orders of magnitude, not settled values. For citation, legal judgement or curriculum work, check the primary sources yourself.
Lines you leave and A.I answers
Lines left on entries and letters may not contain insults or harassment, hate speech, other people’s personal information, advertising or unlawful content. A line is published only after a person has reviewed it; anything that does not meet this standard is withheld or removed. Answers under "ask more" are generated by A.I and can be wrong; check primary sources for anything that matters. Report an inappropriate line or answer with "Report inappropriate content" on screen or at [email protected].
